Kuruvi to hit theatres on May 3rd

Kuruvi, the much awaited movie of Vijay and Trisha will hit the theatres on May 3rd. The reservations for Kuruvi will start from tomorrow. Dharani, who tasted success with Vijay in Ghilli, has directed this action flick too.


Kuruvi movie has the latest animation technology which will be animated by LSS Sathyan and his team. The team of the movie ‘Ghilli’, which consists of Director Dharani, ‘Illayathalapathi’ Vijay, Trisha, Cinematographer Gopinath, Art Director ManiRaj, Music Director Vidhya Sagar have teamed up for Kuruvi too. The movie is said to be released in 300 screens in Tamil Nadu and 55 screens worldwide!


There are no other big movies to be released, that can compete with Kuruvi. Kuruvi is expected to cashin on the summer holiday crowd.

Kuruvi is raising expectations at all levels and the music is already topping the charts. The one thing that has come through in all the speeches made by the Kuruvi crew at the audio launch function was the involvement of new producer Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Director Dharani, Vijay, Trisha and music composer Vidyasagar, who came together to create a magic with ‘Ghilli’ are back again for ‘Kuruvi’, the production venture of Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s grandson Udayanidhi Stalin.

Right now Red Giant’s (Udhayanidhi’s banner) office is abuzz as Kuruvi has been cleared with a UA certificate and is is all set to hit screens on 3 May. There will be 400 prints in circulation. The audio release of the film was held recently in Chennai.

Kuruvi Karnataka Rights Sold

Kuruvi is flying higher and higher everyday. After being sold for a record 1.5 crore in Kerala, it has been sold for 1.2 crore in Karnataka. ‘Mandya’ Srikanth who is a regular Tamil film distributor in Karnataka has purchased the distribution rights of Kuruvi in Karnataka. Mandya Srikanth owns Nanda and Yuvasri theatres in Mandya.

The movie is planned to be released for Chithirai which falls in April-May. The exact release date is yet to be decided. Kuruvi is produced by Udhayanidhi son of Minister M.K.Stalin and directed by Dharani. Vijay and Trisha form the lead pair of the movie.

Kuruvi promises to be a treat for all Vijay fans. The story is along the lines of Vijay being a person who travels between India and Singapore carrying illegal substances without knowing about it. This lands Vijay, in jail during one such trip. How he extricates himself from this mess and manages to bring the gang, headed by a respected name in the society, to justice forms the rest of the story.

The Audio of Vijay and Trisha starrer Kuruvi was launched without much fanfare in Little Flower Convent, the school for hearing and speech impaired. Vijay, Trisha, Dharani, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vidhyasagar, Vishal, Sangeetha and others were present during the launch.

The first CD was released by Vikram and received by Vishal. Gangadaran from Daily Thanthi released a song on behalf of the Tamil dailies, S.R. Ashokkumar from The Hindu released a song on behalf of the English dailies. Kadhir from Ananda Vikatan released a song on behalf of weeklies and Tamilarasan of Sun TV released a song on behalf of TV channels, MS Muthu of Galatta released it on behalf of Internet.
